The Experience

Your Stay, Your Pace

Casa Barranca offers space to move, rest, explore, and reconnect with nature. Begin the morning with yoga, spend the afternoon by the pool, wander through the orchards, or settle into a quiet corner of the estate.

Every stay can unfold differently, with wellness amenities, outdoor spaces, and the natural beauty of Ojai available to enjoy at your own pace.

Encounter Wisdom. Experience Beauty.

With its finely crafted wooden structure and exceptional acoustics, Sadhna Hall has the warmth of a Craftsman cottage and the amenities of a boutique yoga studio.

Intentionally designed to face east, the studio looks toward the rising sun and offers an inspiring setting for yoga, meditation, movement, and personal practice. The space includes heating and air conditioning, a professional sound system, three ventilation fans, and a fireplace lined with handcrafted tiles and crowned by a mural from artist Michael Divine.

Whether enjoyed alone or with a group, at sunrise, in the afternoon, or as the day draws to a close, Sadhna Hall offers a spacious refuge for reflection, movement, and quiet connection.

A Precious Hideaway

A short walk along paths of hand-laid stone from the main house will lead you to our oasis pool and hot tub. Beautifully accented with river rocks and surrounded by banana trees, aromatic flowers, and evergreen shrubs, the bodies of water here create a unique micro-climate.

Custom-built to match the aesthetic style of the early 1900s, this precious hideaway is the perfect place to cool off in the midday heat or soak beneath the evening stars.

The water here is chlorine free and is filtered by a copper ion system. Along with all the water used by the estate, the water of the pool and hot tub are sustainably sourced from our local well.

Wander, Discover, and Breathe

Casa Barranca’s care, thoughtfulness, and charm extend far beyond the main house. Across the estate, orchards, perennial gardens, stone pathways, mature trees, and quiet gathering places invite guests to slow down and experience the landscape more closely.

Organic Orchards and Perennial Gardens

As stewards of the land, we seek to support the diverse plant and animal life that thrives at Casa Barranca. Organic citrus trees grow throughout the grounds, along with macadamias, pomegranates, figs, and other seasonal fruits.

Meandering river-rock pathways create opportunities for peaceful walks among fragrant gardens, while the shade of the secluded tea house offers a favorite place to pause and unwind.

The estate is maintained without pesticides or insecticides, reflecting a longstanding commitment to organic gardening and biodiversity. When fruit is in season, guests are welcome to enjoy oranges from the orchard for fresh morning juice.

Stewart Canyon Creek

Stewart Canyon Creek flows seasonally beside the estate, becoming especially beautiful after the winter rains.

One of the tributaries within the Ventura County watershed, the creek travels down from the heights of Nordhoff Peak, connects with San Antonio Creek, and continues west toward Ventura.

When flowing, it adds another layer of movement, sound, and natural beauty to the Casa Barranca landscape.

The Pratt Trail

Located only minutes from the house, the historic Pratt Trail offers one of the most scenic ways to experience Ojai.

Originally created in the early 1900s with support from the Pratt family, the route once served as the primary road from town to the estates along the northern wall of the valley. Today, its meandering pathways and switchbacks pass through sage, buckbrush, California oaks, and seasonal streams before connecting toward Nordhoff Peak and Signal Street.

On clear days, more challenging sections of the trail reward hikers with expansive views across the Ojai Valley and, at times, toward the Pacific Ocean.

For guests seeking a gentler experience, the Pratt Trail also connects with a broader network of routes suitable for shorter hikes, quiet walks, and peaceful moving meditations.

Connect with the Elements

After the winter rains, our guests are welcome to use our outdoor fire pits. One is located beside the picturesque boulder off the veranda, and the other beside the path to Sadhna Hall. With plenty of firewood at your disposal, our outdoor fire pits are a wonderful way to spend the evening in connection with the elements.
