A Tour of the Pratt House
Veranda
Echoing the synergy and balance with nature that is the Greene brothers' hallmark, The Veranda is partially covered by long sweeping eaves, and partially open to the warm sunshine streaming through the trees at various times of the day. There are three large tables and the patio will seat over 40.
Their notable use of "clinker" bricks as the top facing for the surrounding walls, as well as planters and rail posts gives the porches a rugged, yet natural feeling that has withstood the test of time for nearly a century.
A koi pond is encircled by the half moon of the veranda. The gentle sounds of the falling water help to create a peaceful ambiance as one takes in the natural beauty of the surrounding gardens and mountains.
